‘Fit to Eat’ OK Fridge Thermometer

Sector: Food Safety

Our time delay liquid crystal ‘OK’ fridge thermometer formed part of a British local government’s ‘Fit to Eat’ educational food/home safety campaign.

Introduction/Project

Our time delay liquid crystal ‘OK’ fridge thermometer formed part of a British local government’s ‘Fit to Eat’ educational food/home safety campaign.

Aim

This campaign was aimed at individuals with learning difficulties to help reduce food poisoning risks in the home.

Solution

Our liquid crystal ‘OK’ thermometer was chosen because of its simplicity and easy to read temperature system. The advanced design of the new fridge thermometer holds a temperature reading for approximately 30 seconds once the fridge door is open, thus cutting out ambient room temperature influences, allowing a far more accurate reading, making temperature measurement easier to read. Keeping a fridge at the correct temperature keeps food safe to eat and we are extremely pleased that our brandable ‘OK’ fridge thermometer was included as part of the Fit to Eat Campaign.” The ‘Fit to Eat’ campaign targeted a core group of individuals with learning difficulties within the West of England (Bath and NE Somerset area). The group held a series of workshops relating to working safely with food in the home and healthy living to help reduce food poisoning risks in the home. Practical information on food safety, recipes, with an explanatory DVD were given to individuals living independently or with carers in the home.
