Interactive Plastics
Chameleon® Colour change interactive plastics can be added easily to standard plastics for moulding and extrusion to create a vivid change of colour which is activated by changes in temperature (thermochromic) or UV light (photochromic and glow in the dark).
We produce thermochromic masterbatches suitable for polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, ABS, TPE, TPU and pvc which can be dosed in at between 3% to 10% according to plastic thickness and the colour strength required. Colour changing masterbatches are semi opaque, therefore colour strength increases or decreases with plastic thickness.
We create thermochromics with any activation temperature from -15°C to 70°C. A wide range of colours are available such as from translucent to a colour/colour to translucent, or colour to colour such as green to yellow, purple to pink, red to yellow, blue to white, brown to yellow. Thermochromics are a darker colour when colder, and a lighter colour or translucent when warmer.
Photochromic masterbatches are available in a variety of colours.

Thermochromic
Colour Change Interactive Plastics
Thermochromic Masterbatch is temperature sensitive and changes colour as its temperature changes.
There are two variants
Becoming a lighter colour as the temperature rises and reversing back to the original darker colour as the temperature is reduced below the activation temperature point.
Becoming a darker colour as the temperature is cooled and reversing back to the original lighter colour when the temperature is raised above its activation temperature point.
Colour to colour, colour to translucent and translucent to colour are available.
Photochromic
Photochromic Masterbatch is Ultra Violet sensitive. When placed in sunlight or near an ultra violet lamp it changes from clear to one of a selection of colours.
When removed from the UV source it changes back to the original colour.
Standard colours from stock: Colourless to Purple, Colourless to Yellow, Pale Green to Blue. Available for injection moulding or extrusion into polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, ABS, TPE, and TPU.
Other colours are available to order.
Colours can be influenced by plastic thickness, addition rate, and type and clarity of plastic used.

Phosphorescent
Our Phosphorescent Masterbatch has been specially manufactured for injection moulding and extrusion and can be added to many types of standard plastic materials with ease to create stunning ‘Glow in the Dark’ effects whether the resulting products are for fun or safety purposes.
The neutral pellets radiate a vibrant yellowy green glow after exposure to uv/sunlight light.
Used in the production of toys, bangles, wristbands, spoons, shot glasses, bottles, barware, jewellery, headwear, pet collars, signs, keyrings and more. ‘Phosphorescent’ masterbatch can enhance and illuminate many moulded products.
BPA free and Phthalate free. The masterbatch is compatible with numerous plastic materials such as PP, PE, PS, PET, TPE and PC.
